Regular Sunday Afternoon "Bake Away", for children aged 7-11yrs. 

Thirsk Methodist Church between 3:00 - 4.30pm. Cost £2 per child.

A fun afternoon of baking for children, with craft and storytime to enjoy whilst the mixtures are baking.

Qualified supervision by a team from Sowerby Methodist Church and St Oswald's Church Sowerby.

Bakers please bring -

  • An apron
  • A container to take home your baking
  • A big smile

Adults are welcome at 4.30pm to sample the baking and enjoy a cup of Yorkshire tea.

Our latest Bake Away afternoon on Sunday 12 November at Thirsk Methodist Church  3pm - 4.30pm was enjoyed by eight young bakers aged 7-11yrs. 

We created poppy buns which seemed appropriate for Remembrance Sunday.  Whilst the buns were baking the children rolled out their fondant icings ready to decorate their cooled buns. They also started the decorations for their entry into the Christmas Tree festival at Thirsk Methodist Church. An OutoftheBox story called "Remembrance" was shared with the children before they were joined by their families at 4.30pm to share in a cuppa and taste the scones.
